I’m Giving Up, my Race is Over…

How many times have you fallen? For me, well, I’ve lost count. And now with all that’s going on in Burundi, I’m just not sure I can keep on getting back up. So that’s where this poem comes in…

  • amazing, just when the thought crossed my mind.

  • Wow! Thank you my brother. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2Co 1:2-4)

  • A poem of Hope. Not failure, Father looks at our hearts and we know that he is pleased with us, no matter what the external circumstances are. Let us keep our internal Shield of Faith lifted high to extinguish ALL the fiery darts from the evil one.

  • God bless you, Simon! Thank you and may the wonderful father of Jesus never stop strengthening our getting-up muscles.

  • Thanks Simon. I needed that encouragement today. It was God’s word to me.

  • Oh man!! My heart skipped a beat as I read the title “I’m giving up” I thought “What???!!!” ’til I read on. Our whole life is a race of epic dimensions. Broken bones, Band-aids, Sudocrem and scars all part of the journey. Remember even when you’ve run out out ‘Band-Aids’ and there is no sudocrem left in the pot, others are lifting you up to our heavenly Father asking Him to whisper in your ear, “get up (again) and finish the race.
Much love and prayer’s. You are an inspiration.

  • Wonderful, inspiring, moving… thank you!

  • And did I mention – powerful!

  • Thank you, Simon. I know that you live and work in Burundi, but I can tell you that your words, courage, and encouragement are helping those of us working in other difficult areas as well.

    Blessings, my dear brother.

  • Simon. God bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious into you. The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you and give you peace.
We say this at the end of 7am prayers on Thursdays. I will now always think of you when we say it.
Every blessing to you and your family

  • There is still Hope

  • Simon – thanks for posting this. We have been following you since my husband and I met you in Burundi back in 2014. I love this poem and we as a family will be committing it to memory this summer. The idea of falling and searching for our Father’s face in the crowd – actually searching His face the whole journey- what a beautiful picture.

  • I’ve fallen 3, 333 times but once again, today, I will get up and win the race!! Thank you.

  • Wooooow… Beautiful poem! God bless you and your fellow workers, Simon!

  • Hi Simon,

not sure you will ever read this. I work for a mission organization in eastern Europe-Slovakia.
I can hardly express how much the LORD ministered the me through your talks and sermons and through your book called Sacrifice.
Thank you for being so honest and open about your own failures. I sense the LORD is calling me to the unreached in the future and there are times when I feel beaten down and useless, like these past few days…and then I got an email from you with this poem…crying here telling Jesus: I cannot do it…THANK YOU

  • Thank you. I so needed this right now
